IQF has touched the lives of more than 5,70,000 students, teachers and parents through sustained interventions on Values - oriented Personality Development and Quality Management. Indus Quality Foundation was started by a group of graduates of the 1972 batch of IIT Delhi, who wished to contribute towards reviving the ancient glory of India.
In 2009, IQF made a foray into rural interventions using the modules developed at Dehradun. Starting with Silanga village of Chamoli district, the workshops spread out to other villages in Mehalchauri, Hargad, Panduwakhal, Gairsain and Almora. Number of beneficiaries also swelled from around 3000 in 2009 to 10,000 in 2012. Computer machines were installed in some schools of Chamoli District, in return of which the schools undertook programmes of Tree-Plantation in the area. A Creativity Centre called Srijan Kendra, a Library called Apna Pustakalaya and a Computer Centre called Apnaa Computer have been installed in Silanga village, which functions on the managerial principles of self-managing-teams. In collaboration with leading garments retailer ‘W’, an economic empowerment project has also been assigned to the Srijan Kendra. ‘W’ is supporting the setting-up of a cottage-scale enterprise to manufacture eco-friendly, flowers-and-ferns Greetings cards.
Inspired by the learnings from Vedanta, Mind-Power workshops are organised by IQF, that summons joy and awareness into the lives of rural children in Uttarakhand hills. Self-effectiveness, teamwork and communication skills of learners is enhanced through series of activities—to develop their personalities and raise the bar of self-confidence. Students attending these workshops over the years have noted a marked rise in their self-confidence and concentration levels.
Akilpur-Jagir, an obscure village in the Dadri region of UP, was adopted after conducting a detailed survey of the needs and problems of the community. Interventions of computer-based academic coaching, nutrition to students in the village government school, distribution of tablets to poor students to enable home-based personal learning, and holistic health-care have brought significant advances in the village.
